My dad's 96 box was modified like that too. Then his 2008 (or whatever it is) got invaded by a mouse that chewed through the filter, but didn't eat the box. I found it, and made a 5 sided "box" out of hardware cloth to put the filter in, before going back in the factory air box.

I finally found mine; planned on using it in my 96 but I'm going to custom fab my own intake. Even if you take the intake from @South VA you can have this, it's not doing me any good sitting in my building!
