In 2014 you could also get a smooth rear bumper. These came on the Sierra SLT All Terrain models. I've only seen them painted.

The ONLY modification you will have to make is to cut the tab off the new bumpers bracket to make it flat for clearance. You can see where I made the cut to the right of the hardware.
I won't need to cut that part off as I have a long bed and the spring bracket does not interfere.I'm looking at a bracket that appears to be related to the rear spring shackle. This picture is yours, @24 Karat Brown.
What was in the hole that I've circled?
I'm guessing it was a bolt that at one time both (a) held the old bumper to the frame and (b) affixed the upper part of this bracket to the frame. But that's just a guess.

What reason would they use?Question - Can or would your insurance policy be voided with this type of modification after an accident?
Greed. Idk, just wondering, I mean if someone rear ended you, as an example, I could see an adjuster saying it wasn’t an approved design or something. I get it that EVERYONE has been modding cars forever, just seems like something they’d try. What reason would they use?
But it is an approved design, in fact, it's an improved design. It's a factory bumper...Greed. Maybe I should delete my post before a insurance adjuster gets an idea! But it is an approved design, in fact, it's an improved design. It's a factory bumper...
I get what you're saying, but if an adjuster tried it they'd likely lose in court.
I was thinking that also but I did notice that the metal in th enew bumper and the included brackets are a lot thinner so I doubt that would be an issue. If it was then the argument could be made as to how many 2014-18 trucks that were rear ended where the Ins Co denied the claim for repair because of the new bumper? But it is an approved design, in fact, it's an improved design.
