    Good Source for NV3500s

Can't recommend a rebuilder, but when you get you're new NV3500 I would use Amsoil Synchromesh fluid. I have tried GM and Pennzoil synchromesh, but the Amsoil is the smoothest shifting fluid I have tried. Mine is getting worn out and the Amsoil fluid made a noticeably smoother shift with less...

So I bought a 4.3 that had a bad engine, replaced with a GM 4.3 reman. Also replaced the fuel injection spider with the new style with 6 real injectors. Replaced the plastic distributor with a new aftermarket aluminum one. Truck runs great, but has an intermittent miss. Its like you shut the...

1998 C1500 speedo recalibration for gear swap.

So the 1998 c1500 I bought has 3.73 gears in it instead of the 3.42 that it left the factory with. It was like this when I bought it, and I plan on keeping the 3.73 gears since it helps the v6 when towing. The speedometer reads off, and I would like to correct it. I work for a dealership...

    Vortec fuel Pumps

As far as I know, the delco pump is the best one your going to find. It should have a 12 month warranty, can't you get a free warranty replacement?

98 Chevrolet C1500 4.3L. Will plain AC Delco Copper plugs, be sufficient in my engine

My 1998 came factory with iridium plugs. The copper plugs don't last long in the newer vehicles with high voltage ignitions. I have seen Delco iridium plugs come out with over 100k and still look good enough to put back in! The iridium plugs also have a finer center electrode and a tapered...

    97' 4.3L Engine Swap Questions

I just looked up ther horse power ratings. your 4.3 vortec makes 200 hp the 1993 5.7 makes 210 hp. (info according to cars.com) Hardly seems worth all the effort for 10hp My last truck was a 93 with a tbi 305 My current truck is a 98 with a vortec 4.3. The 4.3 has more power than the old 305...

    Aftermarket ignition coils

Yep, been hearing of several failures of the MSD coils. Stick with a Delco or Napa/echlin or Standard Motor products coil. They are build to OE specs.

Dang nabbit that boy is crazy.. A i4 in a suburban!?!?!

I knew of a guy that put a small 4 cylinder out of a combine into a Ford Ranger. It was not fast, but he claimed it got 40mpg. I think it only went 60 or 65 tops. It always interested me. On the original posters swap idea, It is neat, and I always liked unusual engine swaps. With that big and...

    Carrier bearing

Take it to a drive shaft shop if you have one in the area. Last time I needed one replaced, I took it to Fleet Pride, and I think I was out the door for $80-90 parts and labor.

1998 4.3 bucking, cutting out intermittent

The distributor was replaced during the engine replacement with an aftermarket aluminum distributor to replace the trouble prone plastic one. It came with a cap and rotor. I also replaced the plug wires and installed new AC Delco iridium plugs (oem installed plug). I drove to work and back today...

1998 4.3 bucking, cutting out intermittent

My 1998 c1500 4.3 5 speed just developed a problem tonight. I went out to get a pizza, probably 7 or 8 miles from my house. On the way down, i thought i felt it buck, like the motor lost for a second. It ran fine the rest of the way. On the way back, it did it several times. It seemed to do...

    NV3500 input seal replacement

Just in case anyone else needs to do this, I did it and it was pretty simple. There is a front bearing retainer plate that goes over the input shaft. That houses the input seal. You just unbolt it, pry the old seal out, drive the new one in, and apply sealer to the bearing retainer plate and...
