While my trucks been at my buddy's shop getting bodied, I've finally had some time to start cutting up my bed floor. Was planning to do a simple cut out and raise of a factory floor, however, plans changed as the floor I was planning to use had a small twist in it that you could only see in a certain lighting. Couldn't find another nice factory bed floor in good condition so I decided to do build my own floor out of 1x1 and 2x1 square and rectangular tubing. Will be using 14ga sheet metal on the top for added strength and having the floor flow into the lip 8 3/4" down from the top of the bed rails. In totally it's a 10 7/8" raise which will give lots of room to remount my air management under the floor. Here is what I've got done so far.. Once I brace the front with 2x1 I will be able to cut the front section out.

On my Sonoma i did a traditional with a slant floor so i could use stock carpet and plastics. I had a judge at blooddrag ask if i had sfbd it, i told him no, and he just stared at the floor.

I'm glad your sharing updates on the build. I want to see what all is involved in doing the bed floor. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Ive done it both ways. My current truck is on the stock fan with no shroud. been that way for a few years without any issues even in the middle of summer in bumper to bumper Los Angeles traffic.

I like the e fans better just because it looks better, you dont have to worry about the upper radiator hose, and no mechanical fan strain.

Right on thanks man. I wanna run electric fans but won't have time to install before a show this coming weekend. At least I will be able to get away with the stock fan with no shroud
