    Tools needed to work on truck

    I usually don't keep any tools in my truck, used to but took them out years ago to organize everything. It's been years and haven't got around to putting them back. But I think you can't have enough so bring all you can cram in it. You'll need the one you didn't bring.

    8.1L Vortec swap any good?

    The 8.1L is basically a BBC. It's the last generation. All bolts are metric and not much interchanges. The heads are completely different. The last year or two of the C3500HD could have them actually.

    I like the ST the most, or maybe the Indy trucks. Not sure if anyone posted it already or not, I noticed on the first page you didn't know what an ST was, but it is the GMC version of a Sport. The Sierra ST was replaced buy the not as good looking Sierra GT.

    My truck is an SL so it never had a banner. I have an SLT tailgate with the GMC banner. Good to know I can get it off and put it on my current tailgate. What to use to reattach it, panel bond? Mine has some dents so I was thinking of painting it to match my bottom color.

    I've always read those Edelbrock cams are outdated. Regardless with a cam change you will at the least need a chip burnt. Have you done the basic TBI modifications already?

    The GMT400 3500HD only came out of the the factory as 2wd but some conversion companies made some 4wd. Another note, these trucks are nothing like the 800 and 900 platform 3500HD.     Have you considered methanol injection? I have never run it but I've never heard of anything bad about it.
