What about the ford makes you choose it for "general purpose" work over the Chevy?

I like the motor better all around. Gm needs to catch up to the rest and completely redesign their diesel engine.
I have also always considered ford to have the best enterior looks and comfort wise. Dodge interiors are like a cheap rental car and gm is just an interior to me. Gm interiors are nothing special or comfortable, tolerable might be the best word to describe how I feel about it.

I agree somewhat whith this^^^^ My buddy bought a 2011 Ram Long Horn and the interior is incredible by far the nicest out of the BIG 3 IMO and the 6.7 puts you in your seat as is. I had a 2010 F350 Lariat CCLB for work and the interior was also very nice, almost to nice for a work truck. That truck is what gave me the soft spot for the power strokes, if i hadn't had the chance to work that truck i probably would be biased today as i was a die hard MOPAR guy. Cant say that now though. As for the chevs both sets of grandaparents have duramax' they LOVE them, all kind of power. HUGE difference with intake and exhaust on these trucks from their experience, but the interiors to me are so lame. So i guess in the end if i had to buy a truck that was a few years old I would go Ford, adding to that they are your best bang for your buck from what i see on kijiji. Just my opinion

I can find powerstrokes for 3/4 ton gas money if I look at ford, but Ive heard a lot of guys getting rid of the powerstoke at failry low mileage.

I think it depends on the year, i wouldnt go anything older than an 08. Like i said "a few years old" lol none the less we are in truck country so just wait a bit if you have too, the right truck will come soon enough.

See, and Ive heard the opposite, the 7.3 powerstroke was a hell of a lot more reliable than the 6L. So Id look at a 2003 and earlier. But I just dont know about ford!!

Personally if i was going to buy a diesel, it would be Duramax no questions asked. I have to say that Cummins is probably the best in Light duty trucks out there, but wrapped in a dodge just doesn't work for me. I guess the dodge cummins from the 90's probobly killed it for me, them things would literally rattle the interiors horribly. I would buy GM no matter what, I'm about as die hard GM as anyone will find though lol

haha the duramax trucks drive like caddys out of the BIG 3. Must be nice to know if it came down to a new truck what you would take, For me it would be quite the decision.

A buddy of mine has two 01' 3/4 Dodge's with cummins, ECLB, the thing rides like a caddy compared to mine, I don't know if the additional weight in the back from being a long box and having the goose neck hitch in the back makes it ride better, or the wheelbase, or even the SFA.

I 100% agree that a 12 valve cummins in an OOBS, is the ultimate truck.

See, if I had the money, no, if I wanted to spend the $75k on a new truck, wouldnt even be a decision, 1 ton, quad cab, 4x4, Denali, sunroof, clearance lights :D ,diesel with black leather. When it comes to used diesels.......its not as cut and dried. The 6.5 is completely out for me, 5.9L Cummins is amazing....but the truck is horrid, I just plain ol' dont like Fords but I cant deny the reliability of the 7.3 and the fact their cheap, the Duramax never did it for me as diesel especially since the early models had a lot of teething problems. I am a newly converted GM guy.....but Im not blind to the other manufacturers.
