Disclaimer: that title hasn't been tested.
But I have a 2wd. Often need a front point to be towed or something like that.
So here's what I made.
The d ring mount is fron RuffStuff. Its 1" wide and 1" hole.
Started with 3"x4"x1/4" angle iron. The bottom two holes are the factory tow hook bolt hole location. The third is added to make me feel good.
Here is with it welded together and the 1/4" backing plates snuged down.
I used 1/2" grade 8 bolts, 1.5" long.
Welded up the nuts to the backing plates
Gotta smooth out the edges with a 80 grit flap disk
The 2wd front horn are angled up, the 4x4 are level.
Here's with a d ring on it. I think that's a 7/8 maybe a 3/4. I don't know really. Stole it off one of the Jeep bumpers I made. As you can see the backing plates and mount sandwiching the frame.
My bumper is smashed up, but its barely below the bumper. Allows it to be hidden.
Anyway, there ya go. If you wanted another one on the other side it's just flipped. I use to make these for the Jeep SUVs and we have yanked on them pretty hard. But I'm not gonna yank on it, I'm using it just incase I need to be towed back home.
