yeh idk if its because its always in mud a water?

Could possibly be a bad production run.

Or it could be that replacement parts never seem to last as long as originals. Ie: cheap third tier suppliers...

As far as i know, the actuator is a retrofit right back to 88.

You need to do a little splicing, but thats about it.

theres a bunch of links for the upgrade for posterity, and aftermarket upgrade PN.

Anybody know where the spacer goes? I am guessing it goes in the diff before the actuator. I dont want to be like this guy:manos:...http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZrZOoYRFpRI

OG post for why i went down this path, the 'upgrade' works even though dealer said it wouldnt..
http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?14140-Posi-Lok-Yes-or-No&p=376221#post376221

Spacer goes in to axle before the actuator. it makes the motor actuator as long as the original thermal.
Drilled a hole in the smaller carpet cutout above the tranny, and put in a 5/16 rubber grommet-could have gone down a size.
I will upload a pic of where i spliced, once i figure out the photo manager.

I've been running the PosiLok for some years, three things- the placement in cab of the button and cable interferes with larger boots, and in winter here (Yellowknife) everything freezes including the rubber button cover which is a pain- cable doesn't give a good feel for engagement, also the clamp doesn't work well and had to install some real clamps to hold the cable. I like the 2 wheel low option but I'm moving to electric on my 89.
