Tahoe Sport Bumper Trim?

Got a 96 Tahoe Sport I’m restoring.


I’m painting it back black with matte gray bumpers, flares, and rocker panels.

I’m thinking I need to buy new bumpers, however mine aren’t too bad.

My question is related to the impact strip on the front bumper.

Sports came with an all black impact strip.

I can only find the ones that are black with the chrome row on the top ribbed section.

Does anyone know if someone sells the all black version?

If not, is it possible to remove the chrome strip to get back to the all black look on that front impact strip?

This is what I used with mine, looks just right. GM part 15574114 for models with RPO code BYP sport package. Does not include notches for license plate bracket.

Well shoot. I came across a nice pair of bumpers last year at a swap meet. The red insert trim was fairly nice. I didn't buy them because I had no idea that the black/red side moulding was available. Maybe I'll see them this year again, lol.

An alternative would be buy the smooth option bumpers front & back. Apply the black molding you pictured and then add the red accents using red pin stripe vinyl. Voila.

Apparently LMC has the all black impact strip, somehow my DA missed it.
