Speedo not working correctly

My truck is a 91 c2500 with the 4l80e. The trip odometer on my Speedo doesn't work but the overall mileage odometer on the vehicle does. What could the issue be?

It's the little plastic gear on the inside 99.9% of the time.... they are a press fit onto the shaft with no key way. When the gear cracks it just spins on the shaft but will not spin the shaft.

Only fix-find one that ain't broke and put it i place of yours... plenty of how to threads on here how to do it...
