remove or tap into rpm signal that goes to the factory tachometer gauge?

I'm putting a diesel into my 1999 gmc 2500 classic and I want to use the factory tachometer gauge. I have purchased the dakota tachometer interface and tested it with my transmission controller so i know it works. I dont know which wire to tap or cut to get the factory tachometer working.
