Ill probably sound stupid(radio and speakers isnt my strong area) but i never hooked up a ground when i installed my stereo. It was a kit and i just had to wire all of the many colored wires.

Well you still installed a ground, there is a ground wire in the factory radio harness. I personally do not like to use the wiring kits as they re-use the OE wiring (which is generally small gauge wire).

Anyways, you can still do the test I described in my first post. Just probe the power and ground wires to measure!
