The escort 9500ix is supposedly the best all round. Although I'm not sure if it's worth $200 more just to have warnings for red light cameras.

Just read a review looks pretty solid but lacks one thing the Valentine One has four arrows one ahead, back and right and left the correct one lights up to tell you the location, which can be Very helpful I have had various ones and thats the one downside of them all imo

Just something to think about, the police use lasers too now so as far as I know there's nothing that can pick those up. My friend has a cobra and he seems to like it.

Most all radar detectors will pick up laser and most will detect "instant on" radar. Problem is: once the detector goes off for either one, you've been caught.
The trick is to take note of the quick, weak signal, laser/"instant on" radar detection because that means the cop shot the guy(s) in front of you. If mine goes off for those type, I haul her down quick.

I've been using a Whistler 975 for years. It's saved my butt quite a few times.

here are my 2 radar/laser detectors. On the left is a passport escort solo s3 wireless. On the right is valentine v1. I have been thinking about selling the passport.
