when i start my truck up pressure gauge goes up to 60, then when it gets warmed up and i'm driving it hovers at 40 but when i'm idling it drops down to around 20-25....

what could be causing this? is it a faulty gauge or something else?

anyone had this problem?

both motor's I've had in my truck have done this, perfectly normal for a vortech 5.7 as long as it never gets below 10 :imo:

Oil is thick when it's cold, so you get high pressure on startup. The oil pump is driven by the cam, so it's creating the least pressure at idle. Perfectly normal.

Sounds normal to me, the old rule of thumb I've always heard is a minimum 10lbs of oil pressure per every 1,000 rpm's.
