Soo. I've gathered the NV3500 is a pain in the ass to rebuild & I know the NV4500 is a far superior transmission if I find one out of a same yr model as my truck will it be a direct swap?
Yes to the direct swap but only if you use a 96+ tranny. The older ones can be made to work like i did but the 96+ is better anways and will swap straight in.
Will I need everything from the nv4500 like the hydraulic deal under the hood or what cause its prob comin from a donor truck n a junk yard also wb clutch
All you need is the transmission and shifter tower. The clutch is the same for both transmissions. Your hydraulic system will swap over to the 4500. Again all this applies to the 96+. may wanna take some sandpaper and clean up the end of your driveshaft cause its like 1/4 inch longer and if your driveshaft is rusty then it may damage the output seal.
Either generation will fit. The one difference I know of is that the 1993 and earlier had 6.34:1 Low and reverse gears, whereas the 1994+ had 5.61:1 ratios.
so the 94+ ones have an "extra" gear to use. I say this because I have the 6.34:1 low gear and I never use it when I'm DD. You already have a 32 spline transfer case so I think you have everything covered.
The 96+ transmissions are the only ones with an internal slave like your current trans. The 95 has the external slave but is otherwise the same as 96+. 93 and 94 have a few less syncros and external slave along with a really low first. Im geared 3.73 and first is nearly useless on the 95 trans. And no, your year model doesnt matter
