Had to pull the trigger on a new stock replacement and have the local Mech do the swap.
She is my daily driver so couldn't be down to long. 330.000 or so miles on the original motor. But with the increased oil burning and running hot on the way into work last Monday from a busted heater hose I had to get the dependability back in old faithful.
Drove her into work with the motor loaded for delivery to the Mech after work.

Cool another South Carolina guy!

Good luck with the engine swap. I hope mine will make it to 330k!

Yes sir, I'm down in beaufort. Passed by the shop this morning to see the progress and snapped two quick pics as they get ready to swap parts.

Old faithful is back on the road for her daily driver duties.
Looks like #1 cylinder was the main culprit burning all that oil.
Now to work on my first 383 build.

Motor was $2,098.00 and $1,500. Installation with new hoses, plugs, wires and fluids.
Along with the GM warranty the shop stands behind their labor. Our work trucks get serviced and fuel there weekly so I am very confident in their abilities.

True, but I couldn't afford to have the truck down as it's my daily driver.
I had to dip into my other project funds to get her done.

No room to pull that motor too.
Here's the other project.
