Everyone is well aware of the Z06 Corvette, right? Everyone knows that the first Z06 was built by the factory in 1963, right?

Man, 1963 was quite the year for Corvette. Completely new body style; the first Sting Ray. Completely new independent rear suspension. Also, this was the first year for any Corvette 'coupe' body style, first year for hidden headlights, and the first WITHOUT a trunk opening (except for the five 1963 Grand Sports shown earlier). If the not-built-for-the-public Grand Sports were full-blown race cars, then the Z06 was closer to racing than the regular Corvette was. Right off the showroom floor, it was good for weekend warriors on the slalom course olr club-racing on road courses.
