I thought the zip tie was clever. I used one zip tie and a pair of channels locks like you see on the floor mat in the pin replacement. Clamped the spring opposite the zip tie for about 4-5 coils. Placed the spring and released the channel locks, broke the zip tie by working the door.
Harbor Freight has a tool for 8-9 bucks.
