Better in plenty of ways off road and fits through tighter trails

D60? And you going to dove tail it?
Yes I am swapping in a D60, I ended up doing a part trade for my 86 D60 for a 78 D60 and rear sterling 10.25. No dovetailing, just planning on building a offroad style box/flatbed

Why are you shortening it?
No real reason, just doing something different with the truck since it needs a bunch of work anyways. It will end up somewhere around 108-110" wheelbase. I'll be using a stock K5 blazer rear driveshaft, which will move the rear axle forward 10-12" and be able to shorten the frame by approx. 16"

how terrible are your drivline angles?

Im not positive yet. The rear will be close to at its limit, might even have to put some limit straps on to prevent full drop of the rear axle. Once I finish cutting the rear spring hangers off and be able to move the axle around Il have a better idea.

Today ordered a pair of ez inch blocks for the front, pulled out the D44 and only got one rear spring hanger off.

surprise, az
Have you thought about the shims for the rear axle to give the axle a little bit of an angle to help the driveline angles? Also could make some spacers to drop the trans down some
