Camper Mirror Replacement

Has anyone ever replaced the OE camper mirrors on one this style truck? I want to put GMT800 style mirrors but don't want to leave hole in the doors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Bondo and a repaint for the doors

Best thing to do is break out the welder and fill the holes. IMHO that's what I would do to my pride and joy

Do you have an idea on what gauge thickness the doors are?
