What’s the reason for switching? More amps? Also I’m pretty sure both of those plugs are the same thing.

Definitely different connectors. My 97 Express had the factory GM adapter harness on it. That is the pile of parts I removed to convert from the 140a CS144 to a 200a AD244. Even the GM 145a AD244 is far superior to a 140a CS144 as it stays cooler, lasts longer and has considerably more idle amperage output.

I do not know if this matters or not but the truck is a 6.5 turbo diesel
Do you have a 97 service manual? I'm pretty sure there's one available in this thread, if you do not:

I should have worded it differently, I meant the adapters he listed in the first post looked the same.

There both one wire alternators. You couldn't repin into the new connector?.

There are probably other options out there. Female end needs to be oval like your CS130D and the male end needs to be that weird older CS144 or CS130 style.

Looks like both of the first two adapter harnesses you posted are correct.

Depends on the model. Some are 1 wire, some are 2 or 3 and some are 4 wire in the GMT400 years in the factory setups. Depends on if the PCM is controlling it and if it has the remote sense wire setup.

My 97 van and 99 Tahoe both had 2 wires to the OE regulator plug. Both had adapter harnesses for the CS144 that only tied in 1 wire. Both the Van and Tahoe were wired for remote sense if it had came with a CS130D, but GM deleted that function with the CS144 conversion harness. Why is a bit of a mystery to me.

Sorry I forgot when I got the bracket and hard ware to mount one in the Tahoe , I took the oval wire connector and a few others. At the treasure yard.

Back before the AD244s were a dime a dozen at the treasure yard, I too took many of the CS144s. I always grabbed the stock GM adapter harnesses because they were plug and play. The TBI 350 Cadillacs and FWD Cadillacs had a special adapter bracket that made the CS144 a direct bolt on to a TBI as well.
