nice looking truck dude!!! =)

if I was you, I would certainly start saving my money for a quickie long block rebuild to bolt on aluminum heads, intake, and nice headers... because that can save you as much as 300 lbs in the front end... not to mention let that huge block breath more freely.

I did the same thing with my fan though.
I got a plastic one from a modern Silverado to save weight and add extra blades, but kept the "severe duty" clutch... it sounds like a fan boat at start up, but it NEVER runs hot =)

You aint kiddin!! Those big block heads are heavy as hell

Thanks!! Whenever the motor gives up the ghost I'll certainly look into all that. The plan right now is to just leave bigger stuff like that alone until it needs it.

And I know what you mean by fan boat, that thing is LOUD in the mornings!!

Oh trust me I'm at every swap meet I can. I'm also on Craigslist all the time just looking for anything I can use. I buy/sell/trade a ton of stuff.

I'm just having the muffler straight piped. They're gonna fabricate a "y" to replace factory 2 into 1 muffler so I can keep the factory tailpipe. Running duals was over $400, would be nice but I just can't swing it right now. I'll add a nice tip to finish it off and I'll be happy.

Anything will be better than what I have now. You can't even hear it running standing next to it. This no workie for me, I like big block growl lol.

Headlights showed up this weekend so I got those installed. Fitment is decent but still not as nice as I would have liked. Light output is 10x better though. I can actually tell my lights are on at night now.

Also got rid of the junk tires that were on it (who the hell puts "P" tires on a truck anyway??). Tires were overinflated by 15 PSI to keep them from squatting from the sheer weight of the truck. Put on some "E" 265's on PY0's I already had lying around. For being a not very aggressive tire these darn things HOWL!! I've had M/T's that were quieter. But now my shimmy/shake over 45 is gone so I'll take the tire noise over that anyday. These are just temporary until I can afford a set of 285's.

Current to do list:

GM Heavy Duty Ignition Box
E-fans
DMI bumper
Rancho shocks & steering stabilize
Comp/temp mirror
Overhead Console
Tranny temperature gauge
(all of the above is being swapped over from my '96)

Keyless Entry (truck has it just need to buy/program a remote)
7.4L Vortec Badges
Cab Lights
Tow Mirrors
Window Visors
Tint Windows
Sliding Rear Window (might go for a power one)
2" Block & Crank
285 Tires
Volant CAI
Straight Pipe muffler & add exhaust tip
411 PCM
Black Bear Tune
HID's
4-HI headlights, tailights, & corners
Convert headlights to relay based

Have tossed around the idea of converting it over to a Chevy. Still not sold on that though. Originally I wasn't the biggest fan of the GMC grille but it's slowly growing on me. But I do have a set of '400 Chevy center caps that would look killer on those PY0's....hmmmm decisions decisions.....

I like your plans, sounds good. I like to say that a chevy was made a chevy and a gmc was a made a gmc, so why change it?
