Pretty much but Vortec heads and an LT1 cam with a better intake isn't going to be a slouch. You'll Pick up quite a bit of power.

What about just swapping in a full vortec motor with nv4500?

my answer on fsc was mostly general things to change when going big block, computer, wiring harness, fan, shroud, radiator, hoses, manifolds or headers, exhaust work etc.

454 swap is going to give you more bottom end torque and power over a tbi 350 or vortec 350
