Is it possible and what will it take to change a K1500 standard cab short box in a heavy duty 2500, For towing and snowplowing ?

Swapping cabs would be easier. Front diff is different and doesn't swap over. Rear diff would be worth the swap. In fact you should be fine with just a 14 bolt swap

Agreed. There are aftermarket components to make ifs stronger on any Chevy platform. Check out bulletproofsteering.com. As for the rear end I'd run a 14b. My truck is still 1/2 ton rated from the frame up. Only swapped axles to 1 ton
