    Wanted: Daily driver upgrades/mods suggestions

Yup! Did the led bulbs in some and under dash lights. Much brighter for when I’m fumbling around early mornings and evenings

The interior is like showroom condition so I don’t want to start pulling it apart just yet. But YES it definitely needs some sound deadener, when the time comes. It certainly ain’t quiet

Yes new 92+ calipers as well. The lift kit requires it so I went ahead and did everything matching. I haven’t bled the RWAL but I’ll certainly look into it as well. I suspect rear drums need some adjusting too. You sure do know these trucks pretty good! The cab bushing are in my cart to order...

Haha! Tunes was the first thing I sorted out. Surprisingly the stock speakers are pretty damn good, so just a new head unit was needed

I covered most of that when I did the lift kit, front brakes upgraded to 92 and later style rotor and hub assy. Tire rods and ball joints also done at time of lift. Brakes still suck but it stops well just a little more travel in pedal than a new truck. Cab mounts are on order as well. Thanks...

    Wanted: Daily driver upgrades/mods suggestions

My truck will get me back and forth to our farm where I’ll swap out for the tractor or service truck and also run around town for errands. So it’ll be a daily driver. Question is what would you do to make it a reliable / efficient daily. I’ve already done the basics, thermostat, plugs, brakes...

Think I’m done for now… and big thanks!

It’s a generic one off eBay that I modified to suite my needs. It was originally black but I blasted it and sprayed it with duplicolor chrome to match the rest of the trim. It was $150ish as compared to the old school real ones that fetch 1000 or more

Think I’m done for now… and big thanks!

Well…with the advice and guidance of a lot of fellas on this board, I think I got the majority of kinks worked out on the mystery mechanical side… time will tell. I had to add a touch of height to the suspension since I live in a very rural area and we’re flood prone most of the year….and I...

    Mystery sensors?? Coolant sender.

Checked the new 195 stat in boiling water and it opened accurate… cleaned up the studs/ground to sensors along with the new stat fixed my issues. I guess the temp sensor is working as it should. Thanks for everyone’s insight. I get ocd chasing bigger issues than the simpler ones

    Mystery sensors?? Coolant sender.

All good info, thank you! I was reading around and it seems a likely culprit that most of the trucks of this era resoundingly had gauges that didn’t read all that accurately. I’m waiting on some other parts to show up before I can run the truck on the road instead of at idle in driveway to see...

    Mystery sensors?? Coolant sender.

I installed a 180 Tstat but suspect something may be amiss with it. Just picked up 195 and going to try that next

    Mystery sensors?? Coolant sender.

I haven’t installed anything yet, as I was uncertain that I even have the original engine in this truck. According to year of truck the sensor you posted is correct, however not the same as what’s actually on the motor. I’m going to pick up the sensor you posted this morning and see where that...

    Mystery sensors?? Coolant sender.

So here we are again working mysteries without any clues. (Bob Seger) If you saw saw my last post about the A.I.R valve not looking like any of the photos listed as replacement parts, than you know what I’m up against. Vehicle is a 1988 GMC C1500 Sierra SLE 2wd 350 TBI. My temp gauge is only...

Need help… what is this dang thing!

You guys are awesome! Thank you very much. I’m not much of a 4 wheel mechanic but worked at a motorcycle shop since I was 15 and owned my own from 2003 till 2014. We specialized in top fuel and nitro bikes so I’m hoping some of my mechanical skill with transfer over to figuring out these motors...

Need help… what is this dang thing!

I put the motor info in with the picture but I should have known better than to not state what truck. When I worked at a dealership it used to drive me crazy when people didn’t give me all the info needed to accurately look up their vehicle. I added to my signature for future reference. Thanks...

Nice truck! Looks very close to mine. Would you happen to have this valve thing in your truck too? I have no idea what it is and it’s driving me mad!

Need help… what is this dang thing!

Help needed! I’m at a loss, I can’t figure out what this thing is, pretty sure it’s not an EGR or PCV (I know where those are and that’s not it… or is it), maybe some kind of purge valve? Cant find it on parts list anywhere. Anyone? The hard plastic hose with arrow on the right must have been...

    1988 Grandpa Special

Thank you, and yes I have some plans for it but nothing too major…. (At least that’s what I’m trying to fool myself into thinking) I plan to lift it slightly just because I like sitting up higher, clean up the engine bay, some bullet hole wheels, and some good ole KC lights. But I’m a bit power...

    1988 Grandpa Special

Good evening, just signed up for the forum after Google searches kept bringing me to this forum, seems to be a wealth of knowledge here, so thanks for having me. I just picked up an 88 Sierra 350 5.7 in seemingly well cared for condition and 133k on odometer. 1 owner farmer who used this truck...
