    BluePrint L31 Crate 350 (G3509602)

You're quite welcome. Glade to see that I got my reply in on time to possibly make a difference for someone! IIRC, I got the warranty info about the LD vs HD from a feller named Andy (1-800-345-4545 ext. 2306) who works (worked?) for JEGS and was a good source of information and spent what time...

DU-ROC, I bought the 19432780 from JEGS last June (2023) for $4415.07 with FREE SHIPPING and the GM warranty. I just checked their website and they STILL have it listed for that price...

Time to replace stock exhaust on 97 K1500 Z71

Hello all, First of all, I'm rather green behind the ears and not very knowledgeable about exhaust systems. I own a 1997 Silverado K1500 Z71, 141" wheelbase, 3 door, with a brand new GM L31 replaced last year. Did some front end work (upper/lower ball joints, upper/lower control arm bushings...

AC vent actuators / mode issue

All, I should have credited east302 for the detailed info and pics, I'm getting old and addled I guess. Anyway, I found this video on YouTube where the feller does a pretty good job at explaining, and showing, how to tackle the recirc actuator. The comments section has some good tips on getting...

AC vent actuators / mode issue

Highwaystar, that's some good info right there (and the best Deep Purple hit of all time!). Thanks for posting pictures which is going to help immensely. (Might you have posted a video on YouTube where you dove so deep into the HVAC system? I didn't bookmark the link so if it was indeed you...

AC vent actuators / mode issue

All, hope I'm posting in the right place. This has to do with how my vent actuator(s)(?) are behaving. I'm pretty green to the correct nomenclature and to how things work so please bear with me. (1997 K1500 5.7, 3 door) I hear quick, clicking, sometimes slower and heavier sharp thumping, noises...

1997 K1500 Rear lights bulb recommendations

Good tip. Had the '98 owner's manual but not the '97. Have downloaded the owner's manual for proper year model. Found the info in there. Found a ten pack of Sylvania 3057s for a good price on Amazon. Thanks! All good information. Hope to drive Zelda for many years to come so, trying to absorb...

1997 K1500 Rear lights bulb recommendations

Well, I'm a big fan of "better safe than sorry". Will use 3057s for the top 2 positions and 3156 for the back up lights. Thanks!

1997 K1500 Rear lights bulb recommendations

Destroyer, Thanks, pretty new to posting and wasn't sure about where to post. Are the 3157s, said to be brighter under the "high" load, NOT recommended? Too hot, too much wattage demands?

1997 K1500 Rear lights bulb recommendations

Had to replace the left rear lights circuit board, now I need to get bulbs. Not as straight forward as might seem. Question: can I use 3157 bulbs for ALL THREE positions, back up, brake, tail, or should I use 3057s? Or, should I use a mix? Another question: should I be using a double filament...

Need CV axle and ABS/wheel speed sensor info for '97 Z71

That was going to That was going to be my next question! Should I install the wheel hub assembly into the knuckle, then put the knuckle on, then stab the axle shaft through the hub/knuckle and then attach to the inner flange? Or, can I install the wheel hub after mounting the knuckle and axle?

Need CV axle and ABS/wheel speed sensor info for '97 Z71

Schurkey, I appreciate the input. I do not doubt you, but could you please educate me a bit more and offer me a little more of an explanation. I guarantee I don't know what you know. I have seen pics on the web that show an "external" sensor located in very close proximity to the tone ring...

Need CV axle and ABS/wheel speed sensor info for '97 Z71

More good info, thank you! Poses another conundrum: If there are 2 wheel speed sensors up front and 1 Vehicle Speed Sensor for the rear and the combination of the 3 suffice for a 4 wheel ABS system resulting in what they call 3 channel - 4 wheel ABS (thanks to y'all I'm learning!) why would...

Need CV axle and ABS/wheel speed sensor info for '97 Z71

That helps me a great deal. Knowing that the wheel speed sensor relies on magnetism, rather than some kind of line-of-sight sensor, helps me to make sense of the system. And your explanation of the brake lines coming off the ABS block has cleared the confusion. So, going forward w/ this info I...

Need CV axle and ABS/wheel speed sensor info for '97 Z71

All, first forgive the long post and please bear w/ me. My truck: 1997 K1500 Z71, 3 door, 141" wheelbase, 5.7L, VIN (2GCEK19RXV1207157). Me: beginning to think I'm an idiot, I'm definitely green behind the ears and could certainly use a well thought out explanation I can follow. Doing my front...

    1997 K1500 Z71 stock Z height

Yes I did. I used some white nail polish to mark the bolt as it was before attempting any removal of torsion bars. I did not buy this truck new and don't know if the torsion bars have been adjusted before so that is why I'm needing the recommended Z height as a reference. As to the effect on...

That's just flat out awesome! I did see the post and downloaded for the '98 but didn't make it down to page 10 for the '97 download. Very much appreciated!. I gotta get me some of that them thar "patience" and read the threads all the way through. Lesson learned. Thank You!

    1997 K1500 Z71 stock Z height

All, I sure could use a leg up on this one. I am in the process of replacing many of the components on the front end of my 1997 K1500 Z71 (model # K10753, 3 door, 141" wheelbase) and need to get the ride height right. Went to a Chevy dealer today and spoke w/ parts counter guy and he said he...

    1997 K1500, cv boot refurb

Thanks for all the tips. Age old should I stay or should I go now! I'm prone to change the grease. "They've" made a lot of headway in the area of lubricants. If the new stuff is too good and the joint starts a' clickin' well, there are a lot of miles on the originals (who's building them like...

    1997 K1500, cv boot refurb

All, I have a lot of miles on my CV half shafts. Outer boots are split on both sides but are not dry, yet. I'm thinking of re-booting both of them inner and outer. Does anyone know if both inner and outer boots are the same size? Does anyone know where I can get THERMOPLASTIC boot kits for my...

Well @east302, that's just awesome! Can't say how much that resource is going to help me moving forward. Will be refurbing most of the front end. Having the OEM part #s sure helps to cross reference parts in the aftermarket. I spend hours tracking parts down and piecing together info as to...
