    Heater Hose Connector

I've used a shop vac in the opening to attempt to get any loose pieces. Put a thin towel in a hose fitting to catch any pieces coming out. Didn't seem to find any. Anything else I should/can do to trap stray pieces before firing her up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Heater Hose Connector

Thanks a bunch! Went out and bought a set of these this weekend. Got it punched in there and was able to get it out without much effort, although it took 3 separate times as the old nipple kept falling apart as it came out. Now just to clean up the threads and retrieve any shards/pieces that...

    Heater Hose Connector

My biggest concern is losing pieces down the hole. Are you saying put the paper towel in the shop vac hose to catch the pieces? I saw a YouTube video that mentioned doing something like that.

    Heater Hose Connector

Yep, that's the one I purchased. I hammered it in as far as it can go, until the end of the tapering, then put a ratchet on it and it wouldn't budge. Added an extension to the ratchet handle to get more leverage, and it finally gave and bore out the inside instead of loosening from the threads...

    Heater Hose Connector

Well, I'm sure many of you know the pain of the quick disconnect heater hose fitting. Mine (1998 5.7 1500) was leaking so I went ahead to replace it. Tried to take it out nice and easy, but of course it snapped off, leaving the threaded portion still in the manifold. I purchased the special...

Issues with my suspension. Got an alignment but my tires still aren't straight.

Yep. More caster = better return to center and a heavier feel. Cross caster = pull hard to the side with less positive caster. You definitely want them close to even.

Issues with my suspension. Got an alignment but my tires still aren't straight.

Caster angles are what really give you a hard pull, and if those are screwed up you wouldn't be able to see it. By the sounds of it though, you have some toe and camber issues as well so you'd want to correct those or say goodbye to your tires. I'd take it back to the alignment shop and have...

Are people generally going with Spydertrax spacers for C1500s? Looking at their 1.75"

What size spacer did you use? And by higher shocks, do you mean longer ones?

It might be time... 1998 GMC C1500 for sale

Truck is located in San Antonio. I've had this truck for 6 years and absolutely love it, but it might be time to move on and try something else. Lots of new parts and always well taken care of while I've had it. Less than two years/20k miles ago I took her on a 5000 mile cross country trip with...

    tire wear question

I've found the Bilstein HD (4600 I think) to be an awesome shock. I've got 65,000 on mine now and they're showing no signs of needing replacement anytime soon.

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

I have 1" or 1.5" spacers (can't remember which) and regret it. Alignment and drivability have never been as good as stock, and install is fairly difficult. Stock length shocks work up to 2" I believe. I run Bilstein HDs on mine. If you can afford it, going straight to a spindle lift is an...

    98 c1500 stock suspension/ tire combo

K1500 and torsion bars means 4wd, so that sits up higher than a stock C1500. 265/75 came standard on some, and I believe most people manage to fit 285/75/16 with some torsion bar cranking and maybe slight trimming.

Bummer man. Handy you got that nice big trailer though lol. Hope you get it back soon! It looks really nice at least. Were you reinstalling the stock springs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah that will definitely save your transmission in the long run. Do you ever drive faster than that? Curious what your RPMs are at 70-75. Sent from that one place.

What kind of mileage do you get?

If you have larger than stock tires, your speedo would read low, and by the same token your odometer would rack up miles more slowly than on stock size tires. To be reading better mileage though, he would need smaller than stock tires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    98 GMC C1500 - Texas' Finest!

I'm thinking the next plans for it will be a 3" body lift, then some new lighter weight 16" wheels and 285/75 tires. Anzo LED taillights might be on the short list too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, something along those lines is my only guess as well. Got the harness completed and bolted everything back together today. She fired right up and runs great. The new fuel pump is so much quieter than the old one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In answer to what that rod sticking through the bed goes to, the answer is absolutely nothing. But they drilled through a portion of that frame crossmember. It's just there. Still no idea what that was for. Pulled the bed instead of cut it, and removed the old fuel pump today. New one is...

    98 c1500 stock suspension/ tire combo

You could fit 245/75 for sure no problem. And I bet 265/75 wouldn't be an issue either, that's a little bit taller and narrower than a 31x10.5, and that tire fits fine stock, thought it is close to the max size you're able to run stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tore out my bed liner in advance of changing my fuel pump. My thinking has been to cut a hole in the bed with a nibbler I bought from Harbor Freight. Has anyone done this before with a nibbler? Also I'm not set on this method yet, may still decide to remove the bed. What do you guys think? Does...
