    I meant when I floor it in neutral I put a new fuel filter in because its cheap and needed one anyway the engine runs smoother now but i still have the issue.

    I have 97 K1500 with the 5.7 vortec and when I floor it the truck hits 3k rpm and starts backfiring like crazy and dying out. regular driving is just fine and it only happens when I floor it. No check engine light temp and oil pressure look fine. Any ideas?
