    Master Cylinder for GMT400 - 11.6" rotors, 3.15" piston calipers, 11.15" drums - Z56/9C1/Z60 vs JB6/JD6

I have a 1999 K1500 with what I assume are JB6 brakes. I upgraded to a GMT800 Master Cylinder a couple of years ago and didn't see much difference. However, I recently installed a new GMT400 vacuum servo and now have way too much pedal travel before the master picks up and I get brake...

    4L60E Won't Downshift

No worries, thanks for helping. I could manually shift to 2nd with the cable and then manually to 3td. I drove it that way for awhile and was just careful. No obvious damage (yet). Didn't seem to overheat the engine - not sure what it did to the tranny. Seems toi run great now (for the...

    4L60E Won't Downshift

Also meant to mention that I have the complete (four giant paper books) Factory Service Manual for the 1999 C/K Trucks/Suburban in case anybody needs a troubleshooting chart or schematic. It's almost too much information (over a 1000 pages).

    4L60E Won't Downshift

Mystery Solved. You bet it was in limp mode (good call by several people). The last shop which told me it was a bad ECM were correct. Unfortunately, they forgot to unplug their 4L60E Test Plug and plug the vehicle wiring harness back in. Once I did that, it runs like a champ. Only...

    4L60E Won't Downshift

Schematic from Factory Service Manual for 4L60E Solenoids. Power is from Fuse 20 off Instrument Fuse Panel Box (which is labeled PRNDL - NOT Transmission). Fed off ignition switch. Tests good to the Instrument Panel Fuse with Ignition On. Ran out of time tonight but need to get under truck...

    4L60E Won't Downshift

That seems to be what it's doing. I can manually shift but no longer shifts by itself. Will let group know what I find so hopefully it helps somebody else.

    4L60E Won't Downshift

No, have not tuned anything. Factory Stock. I do have a low end Autel bluetooth scan tool but it does have any command modes - Read only. Can anybody suggest a budget scan tool that can perform all the tests required to troublehshoot a 4L60E.

    4L60E Won't Downshift

PO785 It won't downshift to 1st from 2nd upon coming to a stop. You can manually shift into first and it then upshifts fine. Transmission is a Monster 4L60E I had a shop install back in 2019. Tranmission has about 60K. Suburban has almost 400k. I did find a couple of you tube videos...

    4L60E Won't Downshift

1999 K1500 5.7L V8 w/4L60E Won't Downshift to 1st First shop replaced all solenoids and it did not fix anything. ($1000) 2nd Shop ran a new wire for the downshift solenoid and it didn't fix. They then ordered a new ECM. It changed nothing. I'm back to fixing it myself and was hoping...

    Knock Sensor Wiring

I started getting a knock sensor OB2 Code and went to look. Sensor is there but the wire is torn up. Bought a new Sensor and connector (w/pigtail) but don't see where the old wire tore off. Can somebody let me know how the wire is routed so I can try to take apart one of the looms nearby to...

GM 1999 K1500 Suburban Speed Control Actuator

Found one on Ebay for $65 and it worked. We'll see how long it holds up. Would be interested in a source for the internal worm gear and drive if anybody finds it.

Who has the best reputation for reman 4L60E’s?

My 1999 K1500 Burb with 375K is on the fourth transmission. Original 4L60E lasted 170K. First budget rebuild from a shop in Brownsville TN was $1500 but only lasted 60k. 2nd Rebuild from same shop (with upgraded components) was $2000 but lasted 100k. I ordered a Monster tranny at 330k Miles...

    Tierods which ones to buy

If you read the article and the comments it points out what others have said here. Moog quality seems to have slipped over the past 3-4 years. The other interesting point that I think is often missed is that sheer size is not the only issue. A part simply being larger isn't the only...

    Tierods which ones to buy

I've heard the same comments on Moog. I know for U Joints, somebody referred me to Spicer vs the Moog. Dana/Spicer does make tie rod ends but not sure where you can buy them. Certainly not from AutoZone, OReilly, Advance, or Napa.

    GMT400 Common Fasteners

What I was able to find at Lowe's in case it helps somebody else. I don't think they are an exact match but the fact your putting them through holes which are NOT threaded (or Speed Clips on the doors) - they seem to work fine. Door Card Handle Screws. (Two On Each Door) Hillman Stainless...
