I have a 97 vortec 5.7.
It idles high when I put it in gear drive or reverse put it in park or neutral it idles normal.
What would cause this. I have not done anything to it other than alternator and idler pulley
It was the fresh air side makes a lot of sense after air filter. I just never noticed that much air going thru passenger side valve cover. I have read a lot about it.I got it now. Thanks for the help on it. smdh
Loose hold down bolt would cause that letting it wobble back and forth when put under heavy load or racing. There is play between the distributor and intake. I would say almost a 1/16 if that. But that is enough to eat it up
What ever I do respect the help I get from the ppl i can't help ppl like you have to be so proper that you have to come on a post and give a school lesson just cause you don't like how it is worded if you don't understand something ask instead of being a school teacher like I said at the start...
I have tried to jump start. I had it on charger all night . voltage reads 13 every where at starter relay plug in and fuse box and at alternator I don't think it blew a fusible link there wasn't a big spark when I hooked up the battery and I took battery completely out when I started the job...
I did get it to start had to make a jumper and use it at the relay but un plugged the battery to reset the ecm and same problem no radio or interior lights until I plugged up my scanner then everything clicked and come on but still no start still no crank over to start but I did get it running...

I noticed that as I was tinkering around I was not going with the angle of the head where the intake mounts I think I was overly concerned and obsessed I went with the angle and the gap closed up to almost nothing
