    How to calibrate speedo?

I didn't know they would go all the way around. I read through that write up and I think I'll just get new gauges. My speedo was the only one that worked in the first place anyway. I very much appreciate the info though. Who knows. May hlep in the future anyway

    How to calibrate speedo?

Mine is a ribbon gauge. I think that's what it's called. Just a white bar that goes from one side to the other. But it isn't like any of my other gauges work anyway so I am reluctant to put too much time and money into the speedo.

    How to calibrate speedo?

OK. Thanks guys. I will read through and make a decision. A speedo that goes higher than 80 may be nice... But thanks. That aughta do it

    How to calibrate speedo?

Oh OK. I guess I overlooked that. Cool. I'll look into doing that. I've had the cluster out before. But only unplugged from the little plug in back. Am I right in understanding it as actually physically breaking off the pins that need removed? Like clip them off with some snips maybe?

    How to calibrate speedo?

Hey guys. Probably a bit of a silly question. But I can't find good info for it. So I have looked around and found some stuff on calibrating a speedometer for a truck with an auto. But my 89 has a stick. The hm290 I believe. The truck had 3.08 gears but I changed them to 3.73 gears because all...

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Oh also there's no ground direct from the battery. That's been cut. And there's no ground I have found yet on the engine either.

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Well fellas I may just leave it all. The truck runs fine. Somehow. The ground for the gauge cluster has been cut, the ground on the firewall under the heater hoses isn't there, and the ground on the passenger side of the frame that it goes to also doesn't exist. A ground for something is wrapped...

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

I think 30-40psi oil pressure is probably normal. Which is what it reads. So if it's just a bad ground that's an easy fix and I'll happily do it. I know my temp gauge is incorrect. I'd like that to be considered rrect for safety reasons. Don't really wanna have to fix a head gasket or worse. And...

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

I know it's dark. The little silver piece on the top right corner of the connector is a bolt on Terminal that has been cut. I'll have to trace the ground from B the cluster and fine where it had been moved to

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Yeah. The tab is there. Nothing is connected to it. The wire was cut at some point and moved

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

OK well I will let yall know if that is the issue. There is a connecter for a wire that is bolted onto the right side of the obd port but it has been cut. Idk where it is now. There is a massive rats nest of jumbled up wiring underneath the dash. Whoever had the truck before me I have already...

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Is the ground connected with a screw tab onto the obd port bracket?

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Oh I forgot to tell yall truck info. I apologize. I have an 89 swb with a 350 tbi and a 5 speed. And I will go check the ground right now

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

I can't be sure of course, which is why I am asking the question. But I don't think the issue is the cluster. I think it has to do with wiring. But idk where to start looking.

Gauges all read incorrectly and vary with signal

Hi guys. Been trying to figure out why my gauges don't read right. None of them do. Except my speedo. It's close enough. My gas gauge reads off, reads over full when full, about a half tank when I have a half tank, but never goes any lower. My temp gauge reads about 250, but cools down with the...

What do I need to complete this swap?

I did read that article. I am not going to be using the vortec block. I am going to use my 89 tbi block and just switch the cam and put the vortec heads on. Along with a vortec specific intake manifold of course. And I am going to keep the cam flat tappet. I'm not going to use a roller cam. I...

What do I need to complete this swap?

Those heads are nice. So is the bored out throttle body. But they are way too expensive. If I had the money for 1100 dollar heads I wouldn't be wasting my time with rusty old vortecs. But the adapter may help. Thank you. I am gunna probably price everything out before I continue much further...

What do I need to complete this swap?

Well I pulled the heads last night. The block has been sitting maybe a bit longer than the guy said. It isn't locked, but it is dang tight. And the cylinders are a bit rusty. So I may get the heads cleaned and surfaced and just plop them onto my swirl port block. I found chevy part number...

What do I need to complete this swap?

I believe I read somewhere that most blocks made after I think 87 have roller cam capabilities. OK. I'll just have to open it up at this point and see how much I overpaid for this engine haha. Thanks

What do I need to complete this swap?

OK so I can just use my tbi? I kept reading that it will only support like 260 horse. I'll need to get it tuned won't I? Also if I keep the tbi would I be better off putting the vortec heads on my old block in place of the swirl port heads? Or using the entire vortec block? Assuming for...

What do I need to complete this swap?

Also I planned to use the vortec block and heads and keep my block in the truck in the meantime. If needed I can use the 89 block I have. Although I'd like the extra power the cam and vortec heads will give

What do I need to complete this swap?

I was going to use a quick fuel brawler. I have used one before on a family members Pontiac. His is a 63 though. I have read that the tbi system won't support the power I would expect to be close to after the cam. Why is a carb swap a bad idea? I will have to check on the fuel pump. I have...

What do I need to complete this swap?

Hi guys. I'm sure all this has been covered at one time or another. But I would like to put it up here incase I've chosen some dumb part that won't work or is gunna screw me. Also I apologize for the long post. I am gunna try to be thorough So I have an 89 swb with a 350. And a stick. All...

Can someone teach me about radiators and what will fit?

This is all decent info. I really appreciate it. I looked more in depth at some of those items. I have a fairly large dent in my radiator and a significant amount of the fins are pressed in and flattened. I have found that my gauge is also not reliable. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't...
