    Well repairs going well until I over tightened one of the bolts on the timing cover and it broke:doh2:. I really did not try to torque it hard. (maybe a defective bolt or the cold got to it - was around 12°F when it happened) Boy drilling it out was a pain... mostly due to access. And broke...

    thankfully my truck is 2wd. was quite easy to remove once I realized I had to turn the crank so the counter balance lobes are out of the way.

    Well repairs going well.....until I cross-threaded the harmonic balancer bolt. Totally shredded the tip of the bolt -but easy to replace. My concern is the threads on the crankshaft. Is it safe for me to use a tap to restore threads (knowing that tapped threads are not as precise...)? Of course...

    I will check over the water pump for sure....but with money being so tight will only replace it now if there is any obvious issues. Now it appears that the timing cover is plastic! (Why??)
