alrighty. doing some extra looking, thanks to this post: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/post-1246113 I was able to grab a wiring diagram of the starting system and got it colored in to make it easier to follow.
from what I can see, assuming there is power to the...
To rule out the "easy" issues, you getting 12V on the big wire to the starter solenoid at all times? and when you crank are you getting voltage to the smaller wire? As they said above could just be a case of the starter solenoid wire got damaged when the engine dropped.
Additional information to top post: I realized I forgot to show the wire that had to be cut on the turn signal switch. This is it. Try to cut it on that side of the connector as this preserves the vehicle's factory wiring
Well here is the video I have promised.
A fair warning, I did this all in just one take and I'm not the smoothest of speakers, so I hope that doesn't detract from the information in the video.
A couple corrections that need to be made already: as per the post above this it does seem there's...
I can confirm for a suburban that, due to not having any possible way to have a bed topper, they likely don't have the extra brake light wire and would need to be ran from the front, and the wiring diagrams do have slight differences in trucks past '95 that I haven't checked yet (I know the...
An issue with this solution is that it actually won't carry through a hazard light signal as it has no way of differentiating the brake from the turn signal in that scenario. It may work if you're a bit afraid of wiring and you don't live in a country requiring amber turn signals (as hazard...
Well been a while since I've posted to this thread. The truck is no longer a daily driver so not a lot's getting done to it at the moment. However, I went to a local place for its first (and now yearly) undercoating since I owned it. Steel City Oil undercoating actually gave me a call stating...
Well I think I should make a post here. I can 100% agree with the sentiment of them being the best halogen housings available for these trucks. I know they were supposed to come pre-aligned but my passenger side one was way off so had to adjust it, but dialed in the low beams are great and the...
Hey sorry for the late response, just logged back in for the first time in a while, I'll try to say what I can off of memory.
So the 5 pin connector can be regularly found as it's been used in the Oldsmobile Alero and Pontiac Grand Am, if there's demand I'll start to stockpile these from...
By weight, it was a Little over rated capacity, but that note on strapping it down, I'll hafta remember for next time, I have my own straps but never tried using it like a normal trailer lol
Hey @Cunningham Machine checking on the site it says that the black coated is sold out but trying to order it it says it's backorder, is it backordered or no longer available? And if it is backordered what's the ETA?
Same, they're the reason I sought these out specifically, and if you've ever happened to see the technology connections video on it, they're also simply superior lol
Here's another angle that's easier to see btw
Thank you all for the info! Now that I got the truck and the info y'all gave me, I got the tail lights installed and fully functional! Here's a pic of the truck, I'll get another pic when it gets darker showing the lights. Next step: the headlights!
Okay bit of an update, I figured out the service engine light, was a code 22. Replaced the TPS and it ain't come back on since. I replaced the MAP at the same time and was ready to replace the IAC as well but it already looked to be recently replaced. Unfortunately the wire connector for the...
Anyways, we got a lot done to the truck today. The coolant was an awful rust color (luckily not very chunky) and the heater core was plugged, so we drained everything out and refilled it with fresh stuff, though it'll likely take a few times to get the coolant a decent color again (old...
I have confirmed the rear axle was indeed swapped at some point for a Posi, I just don't know what ratio it is, but I do have to say MPG's were better Than I expected. It cruises along at 80mph effortlessly.
