    Trans help

A 97+ kit will be fine. I used 03 steels in my 3/4 clutch pack. A shift kit isn't really necessary. A vett servo, stiffer springs in the accumulators and you can enlarge the feed holes in the seporator plate for better fluid control. A wide 2-4 band will help for towing.

    Trans help

What are your plans for the truck? High horsepower racing? Towing? Or a dd? A good bit of the stuff listed wont be needed if it's just a 83rd or even for towing. I'd stay away from the 8 friction 3-4 packs. To keep the clearance within spec you have to install thinner steels which can't...

Make sure you put some of the trans gel on the funnel before you stretch the ring. And use the plastic from the bottle to slide it into place. Start from the bottom ring and work up

I didn't rip any of the rings that way. I wrapped them with electrical tape sticky side out. Cut the plastic about 1/8" shy of going all the way around. Make sure the rings are seated properly. Then I tightened the hose clamps. Had them on for about 2 days while I was working on the rest of the...

I just rebuild my 97 using this kit http://www.trutechtrans.com/TT4L60E-OHK19932003CUSTOWOR-Basket.html It's a little more expensive but comes with better parts. Also look for a new sun shell. Majority of the time they are loose or cracked. The "beast" shell can be found for around $60. Keep in...

    my 4l60e buuldup

The new wide band vs the stock Got the rest of the internals installed. Everything went in super easy. I was really surprised. Especially for the band. It slid right in. Had to used A #70 selective washer to get the end play to .016" it had a #68 and had about .038" Valve body and filter...

    my 4l60e buuldup

I have the atra manual as well as the gm service manual. And just read other peoples post about building transmissions. There's no black magic involved. Its pretty strait forward. Just make sure your clutch packs are at the proper clearance and follow the manual. Clean everything before you...

    my 4l60e buuldup

Thanks. It's really not that hard. I've removed several transmissions before, did a built 80e swap in my 700awhp 01 Sierra C3 so I'm pretty confident in my mechanical abilities.

97 suburban k1500 suburban trans issues

Hello. I have a 97 burb with the 350 and 60e. It doesn't shift into 3rd gear. So the 3-4 clutch pack is done. In looking for a rebuild kit. I found a tci master kit that includes all clutches and steels, gaskets, and band for 180. Or the same kit with the vett servo and a shift kit for 275. Is...

    New guy with a 90 k1500

I ended up trading this truck for a 97 Suburban K1500. The 350 vortec is a lot more get up and go than the 90 had. Even though the 97 won't shift into 3rd gear. Looking for a transmission rebuild kit. The previous owner included a 4l60e but it was for a 99+ with a separate bellhousing. Trying...

    90 k1500 5.7L code 13

Got a new exhaust manifold from Oreilys. The power steering bracket was a PITA! Ended up loosening the entire alternator bracket so I could get it out of the way. After that the install was very easy. And no more exhaust leak. I'll road test it tomorrow and see if it helped. Thanks for all of...

    90 k1500 5.7L code 13

Yes, the stock on is a single wire. I replaced with the Bosch 3 wire and ran a new wire to the ecm behind the glove box. I found an exhaust leak where the manifold connects to the pipe. But when I went to remove the 3 bolts one broke off inside the manifold. I tried to drill and extract the bolt...

    90 k1500 5.7L code 13

I can only see about 2" of the wire before it disappears in the stock wire loom. If I had the time to search for it I would but running a new wire is faster and easier right now. And I'd rather have brand new wire vs 24+ year old wire. And I live in the north so I know the cold isn't helping...

    90 k1500 5.7L code 13

I guess the stock wire is about 18ga. What about the pin in the pcm? Run the new wire to about 4-5" then cut and connect the new wire? I have several pins from my old 411 pcm. Not sure if they'll work

Hello, ever since I bought the truck the ses light will come on once the engine is up to temp. I checked for codes and all I got was 12 and 13. I know 12 is supposed to show up. Code 13: Left bank O2 sensor circuit open or no activity. I replaced the stock o2 with a 3 wire heated o2. Wired to...
