IIRC the newer trucks - maybe 94 - 95 had the EST connector (Black/Tan?) under the dash near the PCM. The older trucks had it in the main loom near the fire wall close to the power distribution block. Here's the location on my 88.

Edit: You have to dig it out of the loom if nobody's ever done it before.

Apparently I've never checked timing on a '94--'95 TBI. All the vehicles I've dicked with had the timing connector near the distributor.






Wire nuts are still a crazsy-****** way to connect vehicle wiring.

I agree but, NEC (National Electric Code) forbids the use of solder in industrial applications due the possibility of the wire splice breaking next to the solder joint under vibration/expansion/contraction (they do allow wire nuts and crimp connectors, go figure). In reality the best way is to make "home run" connections from point A to B. I know that's pretty much out of the question when repairing poor/corroded connections, we just do what we can, the best way we can. I want to be clear, I would NOT use wire nuts on my truck!

100% correct. They moved "inside" in 1994, and no longer a weatherpak as it's not needed. Location can vary from behind glovebox compartment next to the PCM, or a little further down that wiring bundle near the blower housing, and if it hasn't been set before it'll be taped to the flex loom and somewhat invisible.

The timing wires on my 94 are below the glove box by the piece of crap blower housing that falls apart and has to be duct taped back together. But that’s beside the point.
