Im looking to see if there is any way i can free up some room in the cab of my 95 standard cab. What I looking for is a bit more room between me and the steering wheel. I would like to be able to recline the seat more but to do that I have to move the seat up. When i move the seat up my knees are in the dash but im a bit farther away from the wheel like I wan't but then i cant manipulate the petals like i need to. So my question is would bucket seats help in any way? I have the 60/40 seat now.

My gut says it’s going to be negligible difference. I had a regular cab 98 years ago, but don’t think that it was a split bench. Anyways, I remember it was reclined to where it rested against the trim under the window. I get where you’re coming from...there’s definitely a balance that you have to strike.

A bucket would have the same type of travel in the seatback recline, but would add an up/down and tilt on the bottom cushion if you got a power version. That just tilts the bottom up and down like a see-saw.

Im familiar with the power seats. My ford is way more adjustable then I need lol. I figured i wouldn't gain anything by buckets but it never hurts to ask. I had a 94 extended cab years ago and liked the room I had. I guess im just hoping to try to shove 10lbs of stuff in a 5 lbs hole.

My friend is 7' plus and drives a reg cab Dodge 94. His seat is de plushified. So maybe a custom seat where the baffling is slimmed down?

My solution was to put in a shorter manual column out of a F-body and switch to a floor shifter. It allowed me to move the column back I believe 3-4ish inches . I'm a very big bellied guy and just couldn't get comfortable. I did find the factory bench gave me the most room, I tried buckets, 60/40 split and the bench. My bench was very well worn with the column changed I'm comfortable with the 60/40 split and a grant 14 inch wheel. The 95+ seats seem to have a lot more bulk to them everything I tried as the 88-94.

Mine is a 5 speed so i already have the shifter on the floor and that is the main reason i havent moved the seat up a notch so i can recline a bit more. if it was a auto it wouldn't bother me as much but working the clutch petal and banging my knee into the column/wheel in city driveing gets old. My seat is pretty worn. Next time im at the pick and pull I might look around and see what I can come up with
