Did the same on my 1993 Chevy C1500. 4” lift spindles, with a 2” block in the back and an add-a-leaf kit from Zone Off-road that was supposed to lift it an additional inch. The front still sat higher than the back. I added the RAS(Road Active Suspension) coil helper in the back, and now the...
I talked to my uncle, who has done dozens of engine swaps and builds, and he said the same thing, that it’s a common mistake. I will do better next time. Either way, really excited to get this truck back on the road. Still waiting on my TBI from SPR. I got tracking information this past week but...
Fortunately I have a 4l60e, and I was able to modify the stock bracket to line up nice and bolt down solid. Crisis averted, I thought I was gonna need new linkage. I have a buddy with a wrecker service sourcing an NV4500 for me though, so it shouldn’t matter too much longer.
I went to fire it...
Good deal, I may go that route. Do you have a part number by any chance?
Watched some videos on timing the engine as well. Hopefully it’s not a colossal pain to time. Kinda a crash course for me. I got a timing light. Should I unplug the advance to set timing?
Finally got my engine swapped in. After I got it in and started rotating the engine to get valve lash, I noticed I have a few valve seals that are unseated. Oh well, when I get the truck inspected I am gonna have them put new seals in. I don’t feel like messing with it at this point.

In Virginia there is a solid 8.1 with the accessories drive and ECM for $1,000. I forget the mileage but I don’t think it was too crazy high. Just saw the ad Saturday night.
Engine is finally back together. Waiting on my fuel pump, tbi, and tune so I can get ready to swap it into my truck. Excuse my messy shop in the picture.
Update on the build-
So we just got back from vacation a few days ago, we went to Alaska. Gorgeous country, and saw a bunch of OBS’s running around which was cool.
I haven’t been working on it too much, but I am glad I pulled the oil pan back off. The gasket wasn’t working because I forgot to...
Older comment but this is good to know. I got mid length headers with 3 bolt 2.5” flanges and I built my own 2.5” exhaust with an x pipe and I was worried a little about the quality and how well they flow. They feel like the truck definitely gained a little power when I swapped out to the...
Well, all I did was waste an hour or so then. Gonna pull the pan (again) and harmonic balancer, and get the timing cover off. I did notice that part of the oil pan gasket covers a plastic piece at the front of the engine, which literally just clicked in my brain that thats the timing cover. :slap:
Well that sucks. Guess the engine is going back upside down tomorrow. Was hoping to swap the new cam in and put the new timing cover on, and maybe the heads if I had time. Oh well. Rookie mistakes I guess. :p
So I made some more progress on my 350. Checked the main bearings, everything is solid and good, no play in anything. Also, found out it’s a 2 bolt main block. Again, it’s a Jasper engine so no surprises there!
