Hey I need some advice.

1999 L29 454 distributer replacement

Cut holes thru the top of an old cap so that you can see the spark jump from the rotor to the dist. pins. Start the engine and align the spark between them. Too far either way will set a code (41?). Too far will cause a missfire.

Installing and correctly setting a vortec distributor

I cut holes in the top of an old distributor cap so I could look in while the engine was running, plugged the wires into it (in the correct order!!) and started the engine. I had done the previous rough setting of the distributor to know I was in the ball park. I could now see the spark jumping...
