Yes if it has a misfire code or something related it will not lock up the torque converter. Yes they have different names, gauge is sender computer is sensor.

I tried a Holley stealth ram and ran out of money. Everyone said the distributor would work...no such luck. Then I bought 24x conversion and throttle body hits my a/c compressor. Probably would work fine with older a/c and alternator setup but I’m tired of buying stuff. Now I have a broke down...
You are correct. If the injectors are pulsing then the distributor is turning. If there is gas coming from injectors and you have spark at the plugs you definitely need to check compression and cam timing
Second, find the guy who's idea was to put a v6 in a 2500, slap the taste out of his mouth, and burn his house down. J/k, but seriously.

Pulse boards have bulletins some even recalled and replaced by the millions. Under the hood mounted to wiper motor itself three torx screws. It's the circuit board, connector and all. Very simple to replace. Go to parts store you want a pulse board.
