Wet Sanding without buffing?

Hey guys, I'm a mechanic not a paint expert as you no doubt may have figured out from my paint matching fiasco on a different post. Question is: If you work you way up to say 4000 grit paper will you still need to buff it out? The reason I'm asking is now I'm the proud owner of some SS type...

Factory color that no one will admit to!!

Mine looks like 38 as well. I did get a match but after several hundreds $$ later.

Phantom Grille anyone?

Since the kids project truck kind of turned into my project. I was thinkin I want a phantom grill set up. But it seems that they have been long discontinued. I just loved how the recessed headlights look, the front end reminds me of some of the sixties GM cars. Are there any cool looking ideas...

Finally.......... they mixed the correct color!!! Weirdly enough it has the same paint code but the formula is waaay different. Thanks to everyone that took the time to reply!

That's the color I kept on getting, a lot of blue in it. Same paint code too. There was definitely some funny business going on at GM. I couldn't find any GM vehicles that were my color on any of the other car lines. Thanks for all your hard work!! I'll keep diggin!!
