    So if what I have been reading is correct, the only real difference between the 5.0 and the 5.7 in the 1996 vortec is the bore. That and the exhaust. Am I reading this right? If so, I will just rebuild my 5.0 and bore it to a 5.7. I assume that i will also need to replace the heads. Let me...

    I recently installed BBK shorty headers with an evans fischer cat and magnaflow cat back exhaust system in my 5.0 vortec 1996 and it really made a difference in low to mid range torque. Smoothed out the engine nicely. It was expensive but well worth the money...

    Hi, I need to know what year transmissions will fit in my 1996 silverado. It has a 4 speed AT with overdrive now with a 5.0 engine. I am upgrading the engine to a 5.7 and need to replace the trans as well. Any help is appreciated. Dan
