Pull the #2 plug out (because it's the easiest to get to) ground it to the exhaust manifold and have someone start it, you should have a nice hard to see skinny blue spark... if it's a fat yellow spark then you don't have enough angry pixies making it to the plug so trouble shoot from there...
AcDelco or Felpro are the picks of the litter for GM stuff
*Also try rock auto for all you acdelco and felpro stuff, prices are usually the cheapest even with shipping but when I went through my l31 vortec I couldn't find and reputable brand name timing covers.
The spark plug thing might make headers worth it just in and of itself because the steering shaft on my truck couldn't be more in the freaking way of #3 if gm tried
Could be the voltage regulator in the alternator, also it's never a bad idea to clean your ground lugs and add a little dielectric grease before you tighten them back up.
Motor mounts are very similar between those two trucks and the aftermarket is plentiful with adapter mounts and every other part to put an LS into an obs Chevy, either way you go you have to have (total guess here) a 4l80e transmission to work with the ecu on that Ls if it's the 5.3 that came in...
The instrument cluster says 14 and this obd2 reader can get voltage 2 ways, from what the ecu reports and the actual obd2 adapter measuring the voltage at the port and for some reason the option to read from the ecu is unavailable so that voltage reading is what the $20 Amazon obd2 adapter is...
Once its running shes a tire killing machine and accelerates pretty well on the top end too and yes if you turn the rotor back and forth it does click but I've messed with the distributors in both my l31 vortec trucks quite a bit (manifold gaskets )and both have always had backlash like that.
On a side not as usual I got bit by the plug doing this and it didn't hurt near as bad as it should so deffinantly a weak spark and it has a red top Optima battery and 1 year old acdelco cables and it will crank for about a minute and a half before you can hear the starter start to slow down and...
The only clicking that motor does is the stupid check ball in the Pcv valve, it bounces up and down constantly but no other unsettling clicking or similar noises. This morning I grounded a spark plug on the exhaust manifold and had someone start the truck (wasn't starting well as normal) and it...
