The Stupid Engine Questions Thread
Have new issues :( lower than normal oil pressure and a misfire. Noticed both issues the other night and they seem to be somehow related. Possibly a coincidence but any ideas would be awesome! I'm Hoping maybe just plugs and or oil Sending unit.- ac3 of diamonds

Not so enjoyable rust.
sad day =( I was looking at one of the other posts on this site, and it seems that there is specs on the frames for these trucks. it gets me thinking "dreaming" that if worse comes to worst would it be possible to take those specs to a steel worker and get a fresh frame manufactured and build...- ac3 of diamonds

That one looks CLEAN! =) I've been looking around but it's difficult to find one with the 5 speed, 5.0 or 5.7 and extended cab.- ac3 of diamonds

alright next question. Assuming the frame isn't to terrible would it be possible for a guy to take the old cab off completely and the box to expose the frame, sand blast and or tiger paw the rust off to get that nice clean metal again, than say rhino line it to keep any future rust off the...- ac3 of diamonds

thanks for the input =) I'm pretty bummed about how bad the rust is honestly and i cant afford to get it done professionally for probably a few years. Is there any preventative maintenance i can do to slow the process and hopefully help it survive long enough to get to the shop?- ac3 of diamonds

Im not a pro tannerezell but i think it could be an alternator. yeah the alternator can test good on a bench and still be bad because on the tester its not actually under load trying to crank an engine full of oil. Hey just out of curiosity, I would kind of like to get...- ac3 of diamonds

What would it take to switch to fiberglass rockers and cab corners? I have serious rust i need fixed and i feel if i can switch those to fiberglass it would be worth it and not have to worry about minnesota rusting it again. Any thoughts would be appreciated :) 97 K1500, 5.0l, nvg3500- ac3 of diamonds
