    Grille Question

Mine came from a dealership. The price was 227. I have a friend who works in the parts department so my price may not be something just anyone could expect. Once per month I buy OEM parts as I can afford while they're still available for my truck.

    Grille Question

I haven't ever researched getting an OEM black grille so I didn't know whether they were still a valid part number or not. It sounds like the chrome versions of the early grille are likely to go obsolete from GM pretty soon too, that's why I wanted to get an extra one and store away while I...

    Grille Question

I just bought a brand new OEM GM 88-93 grille last week. It's definitely recessed for the emblem.

    composite to dual sealed beam

Same here. When I backdate to the dual sealed beams I just splice the wires with solder and heatshrink. The colors are the same, just match them up.

Headliner, overhead console and new sunvisors

You did great. It's nice to see someone take their time and do nice, careful work.

    Best pliers

You've already got the best pliers in the world. After 31 years of being a mechanic I have found no pliers higher quality than Knipex.

Removing visor and rocker panel glue

I'm the guy who recommended it on the first page. I was first made aware of these things by my buddy who is a fleet mechanic for the city I work for. He has to strip old police vehicles of their decals before the city auctions them. Here in Texas the extreme sun and high temperatures really nail...

Removing visor and rocker panel glue

That's the same place I get them. They really work well.

Removing visor and rocker panel glue

Yes. They are quite amazing. Report back with your results when you get it. Game...changer...for removing stubborn decals and adhesive.

    Fuel pump replacement

When I did mine a few weeks ago it was the same deal. The fittings were barely finger tight. I think it's because whoever put the last pump in didn't lift the bed and struggled with the fittings from below. That's where lifting the bed really shines. You can just pop the wrenches right onto the...

Removing visor and rocker panel glue

An eraser wheel will rip that off there faster than you can imagine and it won't damage the underlying finish.

    Air pump?

You do have an air pump. Remove your belt and spin each pulley and check for noise or roughness. Replace any that aren't smooth and quiet. For belts I prefer Gates or Dayco.

Power steering pump: flush or replace?

Never replace a power steering pump until you're forced to do so. Rebuilt pumps that you can get at the parts store are mostly junk. My local OReillys has a 40% return rate on those damn Cardone pumps that everyone sells. I'd fix any leaks and flush it and fill it with fresh fluid before I...

    Fuel pump replacement

Bed bolts take an 18mm socket. There are also three torx bolts around the fuel filler cap. I think they are T25 ? I'm from Texas so my bolts came out very easy. They do have factory loctite on them so it took a 1/2 drive ratchet to remove them the first time. The bolts thread up into the bed...

    Texas Roll Call!

My truck is snug in the garage with the battery tender plugged in. I got different stuff to drive on the slick roads with all the knucklheads. I have to go to work tomorrow for a 48 hour shift so I'm hoping I can make it. I'll drive my wife's little FWD Kia.
