In the fusebox, as long as it only has 12V+ when the key is in the "ON" and "ACC" position. On the juction block, the terminals aren't fused so they are male spade style connectors. You can also utilize an ignition switched source there as well.

That's what I figured thanks

Switch the 2 wires going to the temp sender around, that could be the issue. Either that or the temp sender you have is not compatable with your mirror!

I got it figured out thankfully. Had one bad crimp connection going to the temp sensor. Luckily it was the 1st one I tested, usually I'm not that lucky! Hopefully the auto-dim is working I'll have to see later tonight when it's dark.

You can test the auto dim by putting your finger over the sensor on the windshield side of the mirror.

This is a great write up! I really want to have the temp mirror in the truck. I have the DIC in the 01 Monte and I tend to watch the temp reading quite a bit in that.

Went to the yard today, over 40 Buicks, Pontiacs and Cadillacs and not one of these mirrors. No OBS trucks. They did have plenty of the compass/auto dimming mirrors. I did manage to grab the little cover piece since they always seem to be missing. Guess I will have to try again in a few weeks.

ok,, now i have this same mirror in my 98 GMC,,, but it only reads the compass,,, if you push and hold the "comp" button it brings up numbers you can scan through (i believe its 1 thru 10). when it clears you can see the little *F and *C on the right side of the display,,, but i cant figure out how to get the temp on it,, my truck didnt have the probe in the front when i had the grill off (that i could find anyway),,, i put one on it but never wired it in because the DIC i was gonna put in my roof console was fried,,, can i just hook up the probe to my mirror?,,

if i remember right in the RPO codes it said it has the comp/temp mirror,,, any one know the code for it,, if not i can look it up no biggie,,, (just to recheck it)

anyway,, this is the same mirror thats in my truck,,

Should be able to hook it up no problem. The 1-10 is for different zones in the US. Has to do with poles, as in North and South.
