Why are these different? I do not see the step in my K1500 crossmember that matches the step engine mount.

The stepped one is for the 6.5 diesel I believe. I've only ever seen the one on the right for the gas engines. Best thing to do is look at what you have and order the same.

The Anchor mounts (along with every company that re-boxes Anchor mounts) are Asian garbage. The steel shell is too thin. If they can't stamp a proper shell, they probably cut corners on the rubber insert, too.

There is "no such thing" as a decent mount for K-series (stepped) mounts. I'm told that the C-series mounts can still be had from GM.

Shurkey are you confirming the stepped mount illustrated is for all K(4x4) 1500s with V8s?

That's what MY K1500 needs. Far as I know, K takes the stepped mounts, C takes the flat ones.

I looked at Anchor and another store-brand--identical garbage.

I recommend the poly inserts inside the factory shell.

I did mounts on the wife's Astro last summer and about 30k miles later they're bad.
I saved the factory shells and I will sandblast/rust convert/powder coat them and get poly inserts.
I shouldn't have to do them again.

My issue is that I am converting from V6 to V8. Therefore, modifying oem V8 mounts is not an option. I have to purchase new frame side mounts.

The cross member must be different on a C1500(smooth) opposed to a K1500(stepped) to require 2 different versions of frame side engine mounts.

Far as I'm concerned, you might as well find a friendly Treasure Yard, and buy used ones. I tried the Poly inserts, too. They're not made right for K-series trucks. The steel inserts in the Poly are angled instead of vertical; and the Poly insert itself is too huge.

I have NO IDEA why building a decent engine mount has to be so impossible. I put my 300,000-mile, 30-year-old mounts back in the truck because I couldn't find an acceptable "new" solution. If there's a decent mount or Poly insert to be had...I don't know about it.
