Every time I pull mine off, laying them back down makes it much much easier to pull them off. I've always thought it was weird but... :shurg:

I can't seem to find it now, but there's a thread about cutting the arms to use 20"+ blades. You just drill out the rivet, cut a section out, weld and rivet back together, and repaint.

20" blades on my 97

Where the wipers sit on windshield is determined by where you lock the tap in place.

If you want them to sit lower, flip arm up to the sky, pull release tab at base, pull wiper arm off and rotate it a couple of teeth and slide it back on. Re-engage tab and lower wiper back to windshield glass. Keep adjusting til your sastified.
Keep in kind though the sweep is fixed.

The older GMT400s very well may have older pin style attachment for wiper, but if they interchange with the newer that means the components are the same, and are all adjustable as I just described above.

On the topic, one mod I wish I knew how to do is to make a slower delay setting. The slowest one is too fast for a lot of the rain I deal with. I end up just keeping them switched off and toggling a single wipe as needed.
Soon though I'm going to convert that backwards spin of the shaft to a momentary high beams switch. Signaling other drivers with flashing the brights is a right royal PITA without a momentary high beam switch... as I'm sure we all know lol

This is my stock '94 arms with 18" blades, they leave about 7" of glass un-wiped towards the bottom. definitely going to do something about it .

Both my '97 & '98 have key-ways on the arms to match up with the keys on the posts.
Moving the arms a couple of teeth requires dremeling off that key on the post.
I live in a !%@$#$@%!!! coastal rainforest. I buy 2-3 sets of new blades a year.
The ole man was a fleet owner/mechanic. Because the wipers get used so much here, sometimes the wiper transmission arms would go out of synch. Instead of spending too much time messing with adjusting that linkage, the guys in the shop would do the key grindage thing, providing the ability to adjust the wiper arms 2, 3, or however many teeth it took to synchronize the 2.
I can hear some guys already. "Ohhh...but that key is for strength. Without it the wiper arm will shear off the rest of the teeth on the post!"
I did the driver side post on my '97. 8 years ago & somewhere around a dozen & a 1/2 'oversized' blades. Through an average of 50" of rain a year.
Heavy, wet, coastal snow. Freakin' c-c-cold ice storms.
No problems. Arms don't shudder because of worn teeth.
...and like I said. If it's not raining, the wipers are behind the seat. So I get to inspect whenever I remove them. No wear. No problems.

Can't imagine spending 2-3 sets of wiper blades per year! Ours usually last 1-2 years if maintained. But then again, Iowa doesn't get a whole lot of rain. Have you checked into PIAA silicone blades on Amazon? They have the beam style and conventional style for under $30/each. I've been told they last for YEARS! They also put a slight glaze of silicone to make the water bead up and helps the blades wipe better. I have Michelin Silicone beam style blades on both of my trucks and work great, but thought about getting the PIAA conventional style blades instead sometime.

It's f*ckin' weird how we had super wet spring/early summer, was always trying to find a time to mow, and now abnormally dry. WTF?! Grass is burnt, one maybe two slight chances of rain per week, no mowing means no cash, no cash. -Sorry for the bit of rant there.

I did the big wiper mod to get 22" blades and went to the hook style instead of the post. You remove the rivet and cut the arm in two to remove roughly an inch from the arm. Weld together and add the rivet to put it back together. Its nice to have the larger blades but the wipers chatter even when the windshield is wet.

Did you cut these arms down or are these stock '95 + arms with 20" blades ?
These arms are actually from a 99 GMC Suburban K2500 that I bought for parts a while back, but they fit & function just the same as my stock 97 arms.
I had my arms painted up real nice and I stupidly opened the hood with the arms up and messed up the paint. I traded them with the ones off the parts rig so I could touch up the paint without it being so time pressing... That was 2 years ago hahaha. I'll may get around to it.

My first set of larger wiper trials was the rain-x $25 blades and IIRC those best fit a 20" on driverside and 19" on passenger. Those lasted me 5 years. Now I have the most premium blades from Walmart Ticco? was brand I think. Both 20" no chatter/shudder even bone dry & caked with pollen.
No snow in South Florida [emoji41]
Just heat, and lots of it [emoji274]

I learned about the PIAA silicone jobs some time ago, I'll spring for those next, these current ones are 2 years running so far with no signs of fatigue.
