Well, I found out what the cause of the vibration was in my Tahoe. Transfer case killed itself while driving on the highway. Case itself is cracked and it pissed fluid all over the place. I need to replace it. Its a NP241 floor shifter model. Is there anything special involved in swapping these out? Any particular things I need to be aware of prior to doing the job? Anything to look for in buying a used replacement?

Changing one out is pretty straight forward. Make sure you get the correct input spline count. 4l60e would be 27 spline.

Np241 is cheap and easy to find around here anyway. A used one is always going to be a gamble though.

I'll take a look at the u joints today when I pull the driveshaft out.

Is there anything I should replace while the transfer case is out?

Transmission output seal
Transfer case input/output seals
Transmission to transfer case gasket
