This looks like it could be a steal, looks loaded - http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tls/2793468139.html
This is a nice set and the price is good. - http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tls/2796162450.html
This looks high but the price is actually very good. Not cheap stuff there, the box is worth the asking price - http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/tls/2830094394.html

This one is just for me... not something you would want to start with. But man it's pretty - http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/tls/2789303838.html

I have a Craftsman tool chest that is workin out just fine. A friend movin to florida packed all he could in his honda civic and the lower cabinet didn't fit so he gave it to me. I bought the upper off of craigslist, brand new in the box for $150. (the bottom box was already stickered up so I did up the top box to match)

The major tool truck guys (snap on, mac, matco) get trade ins on boxes when guys upgrade to bigger boxes all the time, so you could look into that too.

i use a craftsman setup like tattooed4life has but i use two bottom boxes stacked, they work great but at the moment i am needing a bigger box lol. as for tools i buy mostly snap-on for the plain and simple reason that i started out with craftsman but tended to break some of their stuff with the everyday high volume shop use. i switched to buying Matco and they SUCK! i have broken so much stuff that i bought from them so i stopped buying their stuff too, Snap-on is expensive but worth it in my oppinion since their stuff just doesnt brake and its made in the USA with quality material. I dont have a Mac distributor or Cornwell so i couldnt tell you how their stuff is.

Every1 here is right on. you need to take everything in and make your own decision on what fits your budget and where u want to spend the majority of your money.I would jump on the tool box from harbor frieght, save your cash for your tools. as for your hand tools I like/love my craftsman. cant beat a lifetime warrenty, and sears is right around the corner every day of the week...unlike your Mac, Snap, n MAtco guys that comes once a week. On your air tools that you dont use EVERYDAY you can slide with harbor frieght, IMO. But for the specialty tools that are precision or the ones you will use daily..impact, torque wrench I would deff talk to ur larger dealers, u can also survive with craftsman. Did I mention I love my craftsman tools? I picked MAC when I worked for American Iron Horse motorcycles, mainly because the Matco and snap on dealers were duschbags. for example, my craftsman ratchet wrenches have 8 standard and 10 or so metric wrenches, but with MAC you get like 10 standard and 13 or so metric. so u get a lil more for your money. but their butane soldering iron is/was 80 bucks and you can get the exact same thing at radio shack for less than 10. so make a list and do some resarch.
Also check out craigslist, and if your online checking prices head over to amazon, its the ****

Somebody mentioned tool truck trade ins I would also look for repo boxes. I have a Snap-on KR1000 that as a repo about 10 years ago. I got it for balance owed.
