I'm Awesome
I got a second hand air cleaner resonator and there is ugly stuff inside that’s falling apart so i removed as much of it as possible. I thought it was dirt but it’s probably insulation. Is it necessary to be in there?

A lot of folks remove it, or the guts, to allow more air flow. When a 350 revs over 4500 RPM it gets restrictive.you don't use the resonator?
Figured I'd ask since thread isn't very old. Looking into deleting the resonator on my 90 GMC Sierra 350ci TBI. Trying to keep it factory looking. Is this 305 tube something I can buy new or is it something I need to salvage. I'm nowhere near a salvage yard so trying to locate a new one. I figured someone like Dorman would have one at one of the parts stores I could order but not having any luck. Maybe I'm just not searching properly?I've only seen 'em on 454 or 350 trucks. Seems the 305's & V6's didn't get them. I removed mine and swapped in the flex tube from a 305 truck, looks factree without the restriction. If I ever go to sell the truck, the factory resonator will go back on it. Don't need people telling me it's not actually a 350 or questioning it.
Mine is off right now but it don't seem any faster.
